Stenographer
Bark beetle is an insect whose name in Latin is Ips stenographus. So, the name points at a stenographer. In some languages, as in Finnish, it is also called a stenographer. The name comes from the up to one meter long tunnels that the insect carves under the bark of a barn tree. The tunnels look like shorthand.
